British Gas charging more than the price cap?
I got punted onto British Gas after the Peoples Energy went bust and so I am on the people's energy tariff. But I have noticed that I am getting charged more than the price cap. I am getting charged 29.322p per kWh and 55.696p per day standing charge for electricity and 7.727p per kWh, 32.032p per day for gas. I thought they couldn't charge you more than 28.34p per kWh and a Standing charge: 45.34p per for electricity and 7.37p per kWh Standing charge: 27.22p per day ??
If not what does the price cap actually mean?

Price cap varies by region, have you checked what it is for your area?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Have a look here although you may not be with EDF you can see the regional price differences for the capped rates to check if yours is broadly similar.1

There is an explanation of the price cap at the link in my signature. The cap is higher for non-DD payments. If you're not paying by DD you will be charged that higher rate by most but not all suppliers.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile.
