Anyone know what the problem is?
Co-op Bank down? Current problems and issues | Downdetector

I've seen the Twitter message about clearing cache but why would that suddenly be a problem?

Working fine for me, and have logged in several times this morning (inc in last few minutes) on the website and via the app.

    Thanks.
I'm still getting, "There was a problem with the connection
                             "Try logging in again"
Normally the log-in page automatically switches to one including a scam warning before I input extra information but now it sticks on the first.
Didn't want to have to clear cache and potentially lose things I wanted to keep but looks as though I may have to.
The "downdetector" shows I am not alone.

ETA:  I changed browser - from Edge to Chrome - and problem cleared.

Interesting that it's not working for some. I have, unusually, logged in multiple times today waiting for a transfer from NS&I that should be in today (still not arrived). So I've been in and out much more than usual, with no problems at all.  Was also in our Smile account earlier, no problems with that either. Using Chrome browser and Android app.

It clearly had problems - and hence put up a message on the log-in screen saying to clear cache if one had problems logging in or it could be because of using bookmark or favourites.
I amended one of my above posts to say I changed browser and got through.
Today I have also been able to get in via my normal browser even though I didn't clear the cache  (- and the message saying what to do if you were having a problem was (and is) still displayed.

Quite often this is because they've updated some resource the page is dependent on and customers still have an old version cached in their browser. Eventually the cached version expires, but before then it is necessary to clear the cache or do a hard refresh to pull the latest page assets. Explains why it affects some users and not others, and spontaneously resolves after some random interval.
  • Like many, been having problems logging on via Google Chrome and been using Microsoft Edge. However, able to lock in via Chrome this morning but all my recorded bank details for any transfers have disappeared, and there were lots of them!!
