Calling the insurer, saying their quote is too high and I would be looking elsewhere should at the very least elicit the question "Are you saying you do not want to renew the policy?"

Hi all, thanks for all of your comments.

I will clarify that I pretty much said explicitly, I will not renew given the quote and that I will look elsewhere. This is well before the policy renewal date. My issue is that after that phone call they pretty much went and renewed the policy and not just that but at a even higher rate, then billed me for it. When I emailed to raise this, they treated this as an customer service issue and thanked me for the feedback. This all happened before the end of the policy. Does that make sense?

Did you take an insurance policy out with another provider?

Have they now cancelled the policy and refunded the amount to you? Or have they taken some of the refund as an admin fee?

If they have refunded you in full, what are you looking to gain by spending time on this?

    Hi all,

I did not manage to phone them yesterday but hope to get around to it this afternoon. I have not taken out a policy with another provider. They have not refunded me nor charged me a fee. My question for those of you who may see this before this afternoon; what are my talking points ergo no contract here for them thus the money has not been taken as part of any agreed terms as such therefore the money should be returned in full.

I am not looking to gain anything except to get my money back. I am upset that they think its okay for them to have that conversation with me, hang up then do what they did. I don't think what they did was acceptable and worth filing complaint about.
