How long you could be in emergency accommodation depends on the priority given and your council's policies.  I talked to people (including a women with a child) and she'd been in emergency accommodation for over three years (albeit a maisonette like me). Because of the automatic D priority given to homeless people by my council regardless of medical etc need, I thought I'd be in emergency accommodation forever (successful bids were only made by people with A and B priorities.  But maybe my polite but constant emails to Housing helped., I was placed in permanent housing in well under two years.  Its not the best property obviously but it is a home and its ours for as long as we need it.  I think it was offered to us 'off the bid system' as it never appeared on the bidding list.

I suspect there's an unofficial alloocation system (as well as the official bidding system) with my council.  The emergency accommodation was in a sink estate.., lots of people in emergency accommodation there.  I've seen quite a few properties in the block of maisonettes I was offered as permanent accommodation be taken by new residents without ever appearing on the bidding list.  I did make sure to make the emergency accommodation look as nice as I could and I know the manager of the estate visited people regularly and commented on how well cared for the properties were (she was a bit like an old fashioned school teacher with tenants who incurred her wrath lol, woe betide you if you had weeds in your paving area in the small garden you had!).  It might have helped me get permanent accommodation a bit quicker, however unofficially.  My place was a bit of a tip when I moved in, looked totally different when I moved out.  Obviously it doesn't work like that everywhere, I just did everything I could to make sure I was smiled on by the council lolol.

Check the S21 is valid. If there is ANY mistake, do not do nything. Wait for a court date and THEN tell the court why the S21 is not vaid. The court will then dismss the S21 and the LL will have to start again - another 2 months + another X months.
    Check this:
    S21 checklist (Is a S21 valid?)
If thhe S21 IS valid, then evenually you will be evicted - but if you want the council to re-house you, you must stay till you are evicted. If you leave earlier, the council will wash their hands....
