Im looking to change my 2 old storage heaters in my 1 bedroom flat and im torn between staying on Economy 7 and installing the Elnur Ecombi HHR storage heaters or , changing to a standard day rate tariff and having Electric radiators that i can turn on as and when i please. Gas isn't an option as it's not connected in the flats where i live. Also i work a 3 shift work pattern of Nightshifts late shifts and early shifts so a lot of the time im using heating when im not in the flat. Im really not sure which option to take so any advice would be great

Welcome to the forum. The answer will depend on whether you own or rent the flat and how long you intend to live there.HHR storage heaters are probably the least worst option if a heat pump is impractical, but the payback period could be quite long. However, a flat with electric radiators on an expensive single rate tariff will be a red line for many potential purchasers. The answer may be to do nothing.2

Ideally each radiator will need both an E7 and a 24h supply. You can get away with a single 24h supply, but take great care that you programme the heaters to match your meter's actual E7 times, not what a website or the installer thinks they should be. The only way is to watch the meter changeover times. The internal wiring also needs to be changed for single supply working, see P.8 of the instructions.1

Do you think they will be cheaper to operate? Says they are 35% more efficient than old storage heaters, but it's the comparrison with dayrate Electric radiators im interested in. Im guessing sitting indoors all day on cold winter days could be very expensive with Electric radiators0

35% seems a bit optimistic: Dimplex claim only 'up to 27%' for their similar Quantum heater. The better efficiency is because IF it's correctly programmed, better insulation means that less heat is lost through the night when it's not needed.I wouldn't consider using day rate electric heaters. Nothing is more expensive to run, and potential buyers of your flat will run a mile. For me it would be changing to HHRs or doing nothing. Or buying a flat with gas CH.1
