im coming here after google completely threw me and confused me even more.
I have just Had a new kitchen fitted, new oven etc. anyway I’ve noticed my oven bob is starting to damage my side. It’s starting to burn/melt the edges and corners nearest to it.
In my head I’m adamant I need to have something there to stop this or maybe it’s too close to the side. I don’t know but something is telling me it’s a fire hazard and before I go to my builder who loves to palm me off with lies I thought I’d ask here for advice first.
Thanks in advance

A hob should not be burning the worktop it's mounted within, if that's what you mean by "sides".
Not enough info/pics to be able to speculate further about causes etc.1 -
Do you mean you have an integrated oven and the doors either side of the oven are warping? If so, the oven door isn't sealing and is allowing heat to escape. I had that and replaced the seal and it was fine0

Your oven bob is damaging your side?
If you mean the hob is damaging the EDGES of your worktop it might be that the lower edge of the worktop is level with the top of the hob? If so, raise the oven/hob?0 -
Presumably you would be contacting her/him to fix what s/he has screwed up and want to be sure of the facts? Post a pic.jojodz3891 said:Hi

This doesn't sound right, the oven shouldn't be damaging the kitchen.
Please provide a more complete description of what is happening. No one will be able to help otherwise.0 -
I saw something like this in a rental house once. The worktop was an inch or so higher than usual - I think to allow it to be run into the window recess - and there was a freestanding gas cooker which scorched the ends of the laminate worktop where it was slightly above the level of the cooker.
The problem in the OP isn't very clearly explained, but if it's anything like this I can think of two possible solutions: either fit metal plates to the ends of the worktop to protect it or raise the cooker higher (e.g. by sitting it on an offcut of worktop) so it is at the same level as the worktop as intended.2 -
If it’s a freestanding oven/hob, you need to check the manufacturer installation guidance on the gap between it and worktopsA thankyou is payment enough .0
