If I inherit a home that I have always lived in with my parent (it's always been my one and only home for 48 years),if I later sell it would I have to pay capital gains tax?

No, provided it remains your only or main home.1

Even if you did not live there CGT would not be payable if you sold a house immediately after inheriting it.1
