I understand Chase will give 1% cashback for one year starting from account opening.
Apart from time restriction, I have not seen any limit the amount of cashback a person could earn is there any limit on this ??

There doesn't appear to be any other way to open a Chase account. I suspect most over 50s will also have older iPhones and therefore be unable to take advantage of this top saving product. My trusty iPhone 6 is on iOS 12.5.5 and it can't be further updated but, until now, it has done everything I wanted it to do.
Nobody is going to spend a couple of hundred pounds buying a "better" phone just to get a Chase account, which would more than cancel out the extra interest.
Martin really needs to add a warning note to his savings article to say that iOS 14 or better is required in order to download the Chase App. In my view he should also fire an official MSE complaint to Chase as this application restriction is discriminatory.

Probably deliberate to limit take up but grab headlines and appear at top of Best Buy tables, much the same as a lot of others, internet only, or branch only have been in the past

I feel this is discriminatory as well. My phone is not old - well only 2 years, which maybe is old for a mobile phone, but I can't get the app, and being on a pension I wouldn't buy a new phone just to get a chase account.

It is not the age of the physical phone - it is the version of the android operating system it is able to run.  Below the required version and you will notbe able to run the app.

Just joined via my iPad. Was a bit of faffing around to get it to recognise my passport photo. I am going to send my husband and adult sons my referral code. Think I will get £20 if they open an account as well as them. Great offer.

You have to use a code then deposit 20 pounds to get the free 20 pounds and the owner of the code also gets rewarded.
