B&Q 20% off kitchens offer

As the title, it’s seems like a good offer, you need to spend £2500 excluding fitting and appliances but shouldn’t  be too difficult to get to that figure.

Are these offers quite common from them, a bit like DFS constant sales or more rare? The offer finishes 2nd of  May but I don’t think I’ll be ready to order by then, with the current supply issues on everything they may not have an offer as good so undecided if I should place an order or not.  I’ve also applied for a trade point card for another 10%. Can’t see any decent offers elsewhere, it’s only a small kitchen so a £2500 kitchen with the discounts will be £1800, that’s allows buying more expensive units with add on’s and they work our same price as the budget range.

You won't get a 10% discount unless you spend a qualifying amount the previous month with the B&Q TradePoint card - My spending pattern is somewhat variable, and I can quite often find the stuff I'm looking for cheaper elsewhere.
By all accounts, the GoodHome range were getting pretty poor reviews when B&Q first launched them. Don't know if quality has improved, so don't be afraid of pulling the display cabinets around.

Once properly installed, most 18mm-carcased units are very similar in strength and rigidity, so unless something else separates them - I dunno, do you get moisture-resistant board, fully-wrapped, that sort of thing? - then I'm not aware of any particular brand in that price range having an edge. Having said that, the last time I fitted a kitchen was around 15 years ago. Has much changed?!

So that leaves fascias, hinges, drawer runners, and other fittings to compare between them. And, I guess, the flexibility of design. Along with the other major factor - what is the TOTAL price on the bottom of the page?

Never mind discount figures - what's the 'total'.

What do folk think of Ikea's fuller-length door heights?

Thanks for the reply, I've just applied for the TradePoint Card via the NRLA (Landlords Association) so this will be the first time I'm using it, hopefully that should get around last months spend, I didn't read anywhere that a minimum monthly spend applies.

B&Q do use 18mm carcase (I think Wickes are 15mm or 16mm), they certainly seem sturdy enough, they are flay pack though so extra time building them, not too much of an issue as I'll do myself.  Total price will be about the same, the advantage with B&Q is that I can get a more expensive kitchen and if anything is missing or needs adding, I can pick from store.

I had a quick look at Ikea, price is similar but I hear they don't have a service gap for pipes which can make fitting more of an issue.

There is no minimum monthly spend - I go months on end without going anywhere near B&Q. It is the monthly spend that sets your discount for the following month.

Do you know if you get 10% discount when you first use the card, ie no previous spend?

My bad - Just had a look at the TradePoint site.. Your discount takes effect as soon as you have reached the minimum spend (£250 for 5%, and £1000 for 10%). This discount is then valid for the next three months and you have to spend £250/£1000 in those 3 months to roll over the discount.

As for getting an introductory 10% on joining - That, I suspect, is down to what ever promotion B&Q/TradePoint are offering at the time.

Thanks, that’s great. 1st purchase will be a £2500 kitchen so hopefully  get the 10% on that transaction, plus the 20% already on offer.

I'd suggest breaking the purchase down in to smaller chunks unless you have something in writing to say that you will get an introductory 10% discount.

Unfortunately that won’t work as need to spend £2500 to get the 20% discount, I’m hoping that spend will tigger the point where I can get the additional 10%. I’ll check before I place the order, without the extra 10% it will be worth looking at alternatives.
