Has anyone else compared their British Gas gas bill for this period to last year same period- January to March. I’ve been sent an estimated bill that shows my gas consumption has gone up from 4000kwh last year same period to 12000kwh I know gas prices have increased but now their estimated usage is way too high.
What I can I do to resolve this as I spent two hours on the phone to a British Gas employee who sent me from pillar to post

Just pay monthly variable direct debit then you will only pay for the exact energy you use , you can change to this on your online account then you won’t spend hours on the phone going in circles0

Send meter readings each month, then you shouldn't get estimated bills. Your annual estimated energy usage should then be in line with your actual consumption.

Ask for a smart meter, and then you'll never have an estimated bill again. For the time being, you need to provide regular readings if you expect them to be able to get the bill right.0

Have you given them meter readings? That is the usual simple way to correct estimates.
