Motorcycle batteries
Just getting my Honda VTR1000 back on the road and it needs a new battery, took the old one out and it is a ctx12-bs but when i look online i see ptx, ytx etc but not ctx.
Is there a new equivalent to the ctx12-bs. It needs to be powerful as its a big V twin engine.

I assume it has the original battery so call the dealer, they should be able to advise you. Know nothing about motorbikes except a friend has one - and it has everything except a jacuzzi. He bought a new battery for his a couple of years ago and asked me to pick it up for him.I recall him saying at the time he was surprised at how reasonable the price was.0

Ok i think i have found out, ctx is the brand, 12 is the size and bs stands for battery sealed.
So its the 12 bs that is important. So the ytx (yuasa) and ptx (powerline) are the same equivalent battery from another manufacturer i think.0 -
Go with yuasa, well made and good quality.
For cars Bosch, Varta or Yuasa only.2 -
If you go to Tayna, you can input your reg. or the model of bike and it will suggest the right battery.ytx12-bs should be ok as you say, £36.98 for yuasa. Some batteries have reversed terminals, there is an extra letter for that, I remember when I had a Harley Davidson it was a standard size, but reversed terminals, a standard battery was about £30, the reversed one was £50.So double check the polarity from the diagrams before you order, bur Honda should be standard.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

For motorcycles, Yuasa every time. Tayna (tayna.co.uk) do mail order and are good value, quick and reliable. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0
