is that the OFGem price cap only applies to standing charge/KW and not your usage. Hence I fear once I am put onto the standard variable rates my energy bills will just sky rocket and will be unmanageable to trying to plan now.
It would be like Shell offering a fixed rate of £1.75 for petrol for 12 months, if you drive 2000 miles you will pay less than someone who drives 10,000 but the price is still fixed.0 -

In the UK we're all really struggling to find the best deal on energy. Sadly, there isn't one.
I agree with what pochase above says, nobody here either can or will tell you what to do.
I'm with British Has not Octopus. I approach OE for deals. However for now it appears I will stay with BG. Just need to decide if I should be put onto the Variable rate or go with a fix rate they are offering me. Thanks for all your comments Thus far.0 -

Hi there is no misunderstanding. I know what variable means. And fixed rate is the much better option of the two. That really depends on the fixed rate being offered and how that compares to the likely variable rates for the period.I'm not aware of a generally-available fixed rate currently on offer that is likely to be cheaper than the variable rate over the next 12 months.
