Need to take DH to the station this morning so popped into Morrisons as needed some fruit and bread. Spent £4.39, the bread I buy has gone up again by another 6p! It's getting ridiculous, it has now gone up 15p since the beginning of the month! Goodness knows how much it will be when I need to buy it again after my holiday.
We've been trying to run our freezer down a bit before our holiday. Will be bagging up everything in the freezer indoors (fridge/freezer) and putting in the outside freezer. Will take fridge stuff on holiday with us (we're going in our motorhome) and will then turn off the fridge freezer.
Have spent £112.48 (plus a £10 voucher) of a reduced budget of £200. Declaring for the month now as no more shopping will be done between now and when we go on holiday next week. Obviously will need to do a bit of stocking up when we come back so will carry forward the £87.52.@elsiepac Won't be doing the June challenge as on holiday so will restart again in July.

SausageDogSandwich said:Happy FridayI keep trying to decide if I should use up things I already have or buy extra of some items before the price goes up even more next month.Hope you all have a lovely weekend. :-)
Thats likely why I'm £19.39 over for May, cos mr Van decided to stock up on a few things a couple of weeks ago.
Last shop of the month done today, so my total is now £219.39, I'll take it on the chin but will still aim for £200 next month. That's for all meals and cleaning/toiletries for 2 adults.
Righteo, off to organise 1.5kg of wonky carrots5 -
@Vanlady I think it definitely makes sense to buy extra bits but then I think i need to stick to my budget aswell which is why I can’t really decide what to do for the best. The kids also need an ice cream fund this month as they are definitely not something I can keep stocked up for long6

MissRikkiC said:@Greying_Pilgrim Mine too was actually lovely!! And whilst I won’t share the photo my husband took (probably not here or anywhere else as it’s indeed now very special), It’s meant the baking of said cake has given me a wonderful pictured memory of baking with my daughter with my 4 day old son snuggled into my chest in the sling which is exactly what I’ve been needing these last 48 hours. So thank you. For the inspiration and for being the kickstart to this happening ❤️
Congratulations on the birth of your son, @MissRikkiC. Hope you’re both doing well. That’s a beautiful image you’ve conjured up in my mind.

I made a pizza - it turned out OK taste wise but think I should have split the dough as the crust was very thick - I think they call the haphazard way it looked rustic these days 🤣 The sauce was very nice though and I wasn't expecting much as I just fried some garlic and dried oregano, added plum Tom's with some salt, sugar, black pepper and a pinch of bicarb as I heard this helps to reduce the acidity and it worked! Grated a bit of cheese on the top with some sliced cherry Tom's. I think I'm going to try and perfect the art6

Weekly shop now done here for the princely sum of £12.57 - that included two packs of straight to wok noodles, a pack of 4 burgers of which two will be frozen for a future week, a jar of olives and an impulse-bought super-6 mango. I’m actually really pleased with that - and glad I did go today as it is definitely cheaper without MrEH in tow!Just seen that Hugh Furry-Wotsit is doing a new River a cottage series so very much looking forward to that - it should be interesting and might even mean another book, you never know.I’m firmly in the school of thought that rather than my more usual method of doing a periodic big stock up shop for storecupboard bits, I’m going to continue what I have been doing recently, namely buying a few extra bits each week for the most part to help to cushion against future price rises. My feeling is that all this stuff where prices are going up right now will likely never fall again to any extent - if wholesale prices drop that will simply be more profit for retailers, so the more the impact can be delayed or softened, the better.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I spent £3.03 today whilst out. Waitrose didn't have the butter in stock, so came out empty handed. I then walked up to Aldi and got wraps, sweetcorn, lettuce (30% off), and plant menu pasties (as they haven't had these in for so long). I left the pop, even though I've only got a twiddle in the fridge, I will survive. They didn't have any of my favourite Vegan Blonde, so next month I will get more as soon as it comes back in stock.
