Barclaycard Overcharge Refund Delayed

Hi - in the dim distant past I had four Barclaycard accounts - I received letters for all four saying I had been over-charged interest and fees and I would receive a refund (amounting to over £800). Having checked various sources (including MSE) to ensure this was not a scam I satisified myself this was a genuine issue. I completed a form on line giving my bank account sort code and account number. I was advised I would receive the refund within 30 days. After 30 days I rang the number provided on the letter and received a recorded message saying refunds would now take 40 days. As this timeline has also expired, I am currently on hold with Barclaycard (with a recorded messaging saying they are taking up to 90 minutes to answer). What recourse do I have if they just don't pay? Has anyone else had this problem or have you received your refund within the 30 days?

If they don't pay, it'll be because you're not entitled to the refund, so no recourse. They'll let you know if that's the case.
But there's no reason to think that's the case, from what you've said.0 -

Glad this isn't just me. I saw the Money Saving Experts update saying that this was happening, so when I received the letter dated 18th March, it wasn't too much of a surprise to me. I had actually contacted Barclaycard a few weeks earlier to say I had married since closing the account, and they said if they owed me a refund they would be in touch and I wouldn't need to do anything until then. Received the letter, and am sure I responded quite quickly, maybe 22nd/23rd March at latest. Went online and completed the form, had my marriage cert ready to support the application and then realised the application was complete and no-where to actually provide the pdf evidence of change of name. Not heard a thing since! Unhelpfully! Today is 48/50 days from the 22nd/20th... Well over the 30 days they suggested refund would be made, so thought I'd try calling them... same as you recorded message saying it's taking 50 days... well we're already there basically. And a 90 minute call wait time! (Lets see how far I get before I get bored!) I thought I'd log in again and use my ref number and access code, but when doing so, you receive a message saying a successful application has already been made using these details... So which is it? Is it successful and going to be paid... even though I didn't provide evidence of name change and bank details don't match... or has it failed and no-one told me yet??? Would be good to know if anyone has successfully received what is owed to them!26/05/2018 = I DID IT! I am DEBT FREE!

After 40 mins last night, I gave up, and waited until this morning to call to check opening times... 8am. Despite calling at 8am, I managed to speak to someone at 09.02, and within 2 minutes they confirmed my application was successful and payments are taking up to 50 CALENDER days, not working days.26/05/2018 = I DID IT!
