Gas or Electric heating and water
This used to be a no brainer but...
British gas standing charge for gas is now 27.22p per day... which equates to £99.35 for a year.
The gas boiler is our only gas appliance. It's a relatively new combi boiler which is quite efficient. The hot water part of the system is absolutely fine but we've just been told our very old radiators are nearing the end of their lives and, despite having a chemical flush 2 years ago, the system is getting clogged up which will reduce the life of the boiler. The radiators and most of the pipework was probably installed in the 70s.
So do we replace the entire lot with some new style electric heating and hot water system getting rid of the gas entirely (no meter, no standing charge, no central heating) or do we just replace the radiators and carry on.
We use an electric shower anyway so the main difference will be having a water heater for 2 sinks and the occasional bath.
Is electricity really still more expensive or

If I was looking to buy a property and found out it had only electric heating and hot water, I'd walk away sharpish.2
