Halifax / HBOS Shares

Hi,
I have found some old documents which state I have Halifax shares (1997) that became HBOS shares (2001). I need to contact someone to update my status, and see what value, if any, they have. I contacted Lloyds Bank, they told me to contact Equiniti? Their phone options don't match my need. Any suggestions on how to proceed appreciated.

Lloyds are correct, you need to deal with Equiniti, as they're the share registrar - not sure exactly what you mean by updating your status but maybe that needs to be in writing rather than by phone?

In terms of value, each of your HBOS shares would have been converted into about 0.6 Lloyds ones, and the LBG share price is widely published, as a listed equity, currently 45p, but again Equiniti should be able to advise the detail of your shareholding....

If you've not heard anything from them since 2001 and haven't moved house then it might suggest you sold the shares at some point. The presence of old documents doesn't necessarily mean those shares still exist now.

What prompted looking into it? Just finding the share cert?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
