Euro car park fine £85

Hello, I’ve just received a charge of £85 from euro car parks after overstaying by 20 minutes in Sainsburys Wallington in Greater London. Unfortunately, I missed the sign as I drove into the car park. If I pay within 14 days, the charge reduces to £50. I thought new Government regulations meant fines had to be limited to £50 across the country or £80 in London but maybe I’ve misunderstood? I’d be grateful for any advice. It’s the first time I’ve received such a fine and feel like I should just pay it even though it’s seems a huge charge.

It is not a fine, it is an invoice. The £50 level you refer to does not become binding yet.
Plan A is to get Sainsbury's to cancel it. Going to them as a loyal customer who will have to go elsewhere if every buying trip risks a huge surcharge should persuade them to get it cancelled.
Read the Newbies as well, see if your Notice is PoFA compliant and generally see what other grounds you may have.

Yep, get the Store Manager to cancel it. This is not a fine. It is a way of driving away customers though. Sainsburys need to hear that from you.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for your advice. I assumed Sainsburys would just say they can’t get involved as they are separate from ECP and the land is private.I’ll read up and see if the notice is compliant.0

Sainsbury's might own it, and the PPC are their agents. They may have an arrangement with the landowner (if not them) to be able to cancel tickets. you do not know unless you ask.The pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.1
