Tenerife with mobility scooters

My parents holidayed regularly in Tenerife and have many happy memories. They are now both quite infirm and use mobility scooters at home. We went recently for the first time, and saw a lot of people running around in mobility scooters, with signs saying you can hire them for 70 euros a week, delivered to your hotel. We've begun to look at the possibility of getting them back there for a final fling. We would go as well to provide support, but would need airport assistance and some adapted facilities. We were surprisingly pleased with our hotel and would like to go there  (Marylanza suites) - but although we saw several people using wheelchairs we don't recall seeing any mobility scooters in the hotel. We had an overbath shower, which wouldn't work. My mother would need a walk-in one. I understand there are two adapted rooms in the hotel that have to be booked separately.

TUI is the only company which flies from our local airport and I can't get through to the welfare number, the phone gets bounced to the general booking line.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for hotels that TUI use in Tenerife that are accessible? In particular we would need a walk in shower and a hotel that was willing to let us have two hired mobility scooters with the ability to charge them.

For such a specific question I would try getting an answer on trip advisor, they are excellent on local knowledge.

Thanks - that would be worth a try. I've also considered calling the mobility scooter hire companies to ask if there are any hotels they find particularly helpful, or otherwise......

I’d also suggest Trip Advisor being a good place to ask about rental of the electric scooters.

You could also email the Marylanza to ask about their policy of where the scooters can be left and charged.  This might be outside the property.

I have two elderly relatives who used to be regular visitors to the Marylanza as well. I think in the end they went five years on the trot.  They used to always say they found it idea for them. I think it is exclusive to TUI in the UK market.

If you can not reach the TUI welfare team (could they just have been closed over Easter weekend?) then the main TUI sales team still should be able to help.  I very much doubt TUI will hold allotment of adapted suites so you may need to ask them to request one of these from the property. That might take a few days.

This might also be a good booking to do via your local TUI store as I am sure that they will be able to help with all the requests.

My relatives had a favoured suite which I always got roped into emailing the property in advance to request. Strangely one overlooking the road and a supermarket rather than a pool view. The Marylanza were very accommodating.

I would also suggest visiting the local TUI shop.  They will be able to get through  to people you can't and get answers immediately or at least in a short timescale.  They will also be in a position to advise on other hotels in the area which better suit your parents' needs.

I've contacted the hotel and they were very helpful. No problem with storing and charging mobility scooters. Limited availability for walk-in showers.
