That’s a very good point, i suppose it will be hard to pinpoint what usage was and when it was used at what cost. I’ve just logged back into my account through the web and now the bill is back at preparing so i can’t actually see any usage breakdown.

You could write a formal complaint explaning everything including having sent in meter readings. In my experience the complaints department is manned by sensible people whereas everyone else you might speak to are rather more stupid.

I may well try that route. I’m going to give them a call this week and see how the initial conversation / complaint starts off. I plan on starting to ask if they have any notes regarding the account problem i raised a number of times as this can play so part in it.

Just to give an update on this - 

I called to put in a complaint asking how it got to this stage after 4 years and asked if they could see my previous calls regarding access to my account not correct a year or so back.

They said it was now with the back billing team and i’ll find out what the outcome is through a letter in the post. 

I received a letter last week explaining how they won’t be charging me for anything from over a year - back billing rules worked in my favour! Checked my account and it’s all been recalculated and down to -£300 from -£1500.
