Can you not make a sarnie?, I do, never buy anything at airports or on aircraft.

You can't take sandwiches or drinks through security - very annoying!

I fly very often, and given the way airlines throw your luggage around, I just buy cheap & almost disposable - as long as it's reliable enough to hold together, then you don't get upset when it gets scratched/wet/dirty etc. I've bought reliable yet light & cheap pull along wheeled cases from TJ Hughes & Poundstretcher. I would check the carry-on size, & then buy a wheely bag that maxes out the allowance, this could ultimately save a lot in hold baggage charges. Annoyingly the airlines vary in the size & weight they allow though, so you have to do your research first. They rarely weigh your handluggage (especially if you carry it so casually that it looks light as a feather!) but you can always be prepared to take stuff out & wear it (honestly, I've seen people doing it!) I believe some airlines (especially Ryanair) can be very strict with the one bag policy, so remember that if you buy any duty free - you'll need to be able to put it in your one bag. You'll need to get all your essential liquids into that small plastic bag too - remember, you can usually buy stuff where you are going, if it's not provided.

    A load of spamming

I wondered why a thread that was 15 months old was suddenly resurrected with links to 2 websites.

Then I wondered why the person posting these links was new to this website and their only other post was promoting 'luggagex' in a different completely unrelated thread.

Then I noticed that both websites were registered to somebody called Wasim... isn't it strange that the name of the poster on this site is 'Was'?

It must just all be a coincidence eh?

On a serious note Wasim, spamming just isn't intelligent; especially when you've left yourself wide open to people finding out your name, address and phone number.

Your surname begins with I, your street name begins with K. I'm not going to post specific details. But, that took me all of 30 seconds to find out.

Do yourself a favour, edit your message to remove the links to those websites so that not many more people see them.
  • We encoutered similar problems of having heavy bags and going slightly over the limit. I found a good site: luggageexpress.co.uk which actually has a lightweight luggage section. Some good brands are Carlton, Titan and Sub zero G who are well established in lightweight luggage. I'd say Check them out. It took a few pounds off ours anyway! :)

People still find these threads in Google and read them years later, finding them to be of use. No matter how long after the thread was started, every post is still of use to someone....except yours of course, which was of no use to anyone whatsoever. :T

TK Maxx is one of the best places I have found for cheap good quality luggage. If you are not to bothered about the quality (if it is for light use only) Matalan and Primark often have a lovely selection. It's always worth checking out the sale section in Argos and the supermarkets as well.

Good luck and happy holidays! :cool2:

I somehow doubt that the prices quoted on here going back to 2007 are still the same 5 years later so I would disagree that its of use to someone

    I'd endorse Shammy

they rarely weight hand luggage, but be prepared to be challenged - my trick is to travel wearing the heavy items, and just carry on the essentials
I have been weighed on every flight with Ryanair for the last few years. Got a big row once when they let me off with being 10.1kg. Have been weighed in both the UK and abroad.
