I went to prayers at 9.30 and then the 10.30 service. Very good service. Someone had a Birthday so brought along a large chocolate cake + I had made 18 cakes which all went. The children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt.

It's a lovely day here on the south coast and I should be outside doing gardening or something productive. But I'm amongst the poorly this weekend which is highly annoying. MiL's carer was here last Wednesday and had the sniffles which I seem to have picked up. Have just done the dreaded LFT but it's negative - mixed feelings about that as cousin has announced a visit on this coming Wednesday and a positive test would have stopped that. I'm working that day and OH will be stressed as cousin is a bit dictatorial to him. I can't duck out of work (I'll be on my fifth to last day working due to blessed redundancy) and I have meetings I need to attend.
But you don't want to hear about doom and gloom.....OH did eggcellent boilers for breakfast and has insisted that I relax (which i find very difficult to do...). I have a book to read, water colour painting to do, I have a small lindt chocolate bar (which I think I'll save for a couple of days until I can appreciate it better). And there's a lovely leg of lamb waiting to be roasted by OH - my task is to go into the garden and get some rosemary to adorn it. Roast taters and a nice bit of fennel to go with it. Trifle for afters. And me probably in bed by about 9:30 unless Stanley Tucci's Italian food programme is on later than that.

Just popping in to say Happy Easter all, however you celebrate it! I went a nice 5 mile walk earlier this morning, and have been chilling/doing German/doing other random online things so far! Hugs to all who need them, ill or struggling folk.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Afternoon all. It's another warm day here with hazy sunshine and a bit of a breeze but it's coming from the right direction so that's OK. The forecast for the week ahead looks OK too, not quite as warm but at least dry and fine. I'll be happy with that as I have a couple of places to go to and would rather not get wet, especially on hairdresser day!
We're having a very lazy day doing not a lot. We've had scrambled eggs & toast this morning and dinner tonight is lamb (from the ys joint I got a couple of weeks ago) with mash, sprouts and mini Yorkies. I was very good last night and didn't succumb to the box of chocolates after all, so they are to look forward to tonight. Well, it is Easter!
I tried to get weighed this morning but the battery in the scales has given up the ghost and I haven't got a spare. That's another addition to the shopping list. I'm sure it isn't that long since I replaced it but I've noticed that the older you get, the quicker time passes, so maybe it is longer than I remember. It isn't as if I use them a lot, once every 3/4 weeks probably, just to make sure the weight isn't creeping back on. When I get a replacement battery I'll put a sticker on the underside of the scales with the date written on it so I'll be able to tell better how long it lasts.
I've been doing a bit of family research on DH's ancestors although, tbh, he isn't that interested. I am though and I have to say they're a lot easier to find than my lot. My paternal grandmother's husband (who isn't my grandfather) was a tricky devil to find. It turns out he emigrated to Canada, married again (bigamously) and had a daughter. He also changed his surname. Although I found him eventually, it does leave me wondering if he deliberately left DGM and their children, was he looking for work with the intention of sending for her once he was settled, did she not want to go? So many questions that I don't suppose I'll ever know the answers to.Thanks for the recipe link W_L - I have bookmarked this to try at some time.
Oh Ruby, I’m so sorry things aren’t going well for your mum and can only hope for better days to come for you both. And I hope you manage to get your nephew’s family to collect him. As you say, it’s not fair on him - or your mum either when it’s causing her so much anxiety.
Happy Easter wishes to one and all, enjoy the break whatever you are doing. X

Happy Easter to you all.
Quiet day here, went to church in the morning which was lovely. I should really go more often but only seem to make it on the big holidays, so am a bit of a fair weather attender. Speaking of fair weather, nicest day of the weekend so far here. Weather's been rather grey and dreary but a bit of sunshine today has been lovely. Nowhere near as nice as it looks like you've had further south though but nice nonetheless. Roast chicken for tea tonight with potatoes, veg and yorkies so a real Easter treat.
Hugs to all the poorlies and those who love and care for them
