@staceymacg @QrizB has done a very comprehensive calculation above.
However I would add the variable tariff is likely to increase again in October so bear that in mind as well.
Hopefully you will be in receipt of the £150 council tax refund and you will definitely get the £200 loan in October but even taking those into the calculations you are still looking at an average of over £300 for the year if the price rises in October turn out as expected.
There is some good advice above and with economy 7 you really should be using 60% plus overnight on cheaper electricity and that is your first saving to get on top of.

Does the renewal notice mention do nothing variable tariff option, reason I ask is elsewhere it has been said that SP are not now mentioning that option.staceymacg said:We are currently in a fixed tariff until the end of May 2022 with Scottish Power. We are paying £195 a month at the moment.Scottish Power have quoted us £440 a month for a fixed tariff after our current ends. This is not possible for us to pay.

To ask a similar question, we are on a fixed with a Scottish Power until June 22 but want to prepare for the increase. The bill says we use 15500 gas and 3300 electricity units per year. How much is the rough cost per month going to be? I’d try to work it it out myself but can’t find the standard variable rate for Scottish Power online?0

Use EDF's, it'll be almost exactly the same.blueblazer said:To ask a similar question, we are on a fixed with a Scottish Power until June 22 but want to prepare for the increase. That’s very true. SP are not advising customers of the variable tariff option they are sending emails with two fixed price options without comparison to variable rate or advice that if you do nothing you switch to variable rate which is cheaper. If you go on SP website or app you cannot get a quote at variable rates either, nor can you locate those rates on SP website anywhere. I found it via ofgem (attached).bristolleedsfan said:

.They’re making it out to customers there’s only the two flexi rate options. It’s disgusting. At a time when everyone is struggling and worried about energy bills, they’re trying to actively con people into exorbitant rates.
mine: was £101, quoted £312, variable by my calculation will be about £198. See photo for the rates they give on their “deal”.
my son: was £56, quoted £140, variable by SP calculation £71 (and he had to call them, his them, battle customer service and eventually got given the variable one after demanding it because they “don’t normally give that one as a quote”)
Absolutely shocking.

@blueblazerBack of a fag packet 28p for elec and 7.26p for gas £2275-2400 a year depending where you live so budget for £200 a month and you won't be disappointed.blueblazer said:To ask a similar question, we are on a fixed with a Scottish Power until June 22 but want to prepare for the increase. Except when the capped rate goes up again in October....by how much thoughts range from 20-35%0 -
You posted a picture of the new SVT yourself, compared to old SVT. Why are you saying it is not in the email?

Scottish Power have merely mentioned cap figures 7pkwh Gas - All regions are higher than 7pkwh, mentions 28pkwh for electricity, no regions are exactly 28pkwhpochase said:You posted a picture of the new SVT yourself, compared to old SVT. Why are you saying it is not in the email?
