Morning folks and thanks GERS for the new thread. I'm late to the party today as I got the first bus down to town and then a bus onwards to the next little town along. It was misty when I set off but on the strength of the forecast I sallied forth in sandals and a light jacket, expecting a re-run of yesterday. How wrong can you be! I was blooming freezing! Yes the mist cleared but the sun never appeared. I am now thawing out with a mug of Bovril wrapped up in my heated throw!
On the plus side I got the few things I had set off for and nothing more jumped in my basket.
Oh TAFF a month in Italy?! I couldn't be more envious. RUBY I'm sorry your DM has been kept in hospital and I hope they soon get to the root of the problem. I was surprised to get a text yesterday from my BFF telling me she was home! They don't keep folk in long these days do they! She was comfortable and had slept well. This morning's update told me the same. She sounds to be doing really well I just hope it continues. Although her DH is with her, her DS and his DP are also staying with her for a few days making sure she does as she is told!
I didn't make much progress tidying the front garden yesterday and unless the sun comes out it won't progress much today either! I'm a slow motion fair weather gardener these days.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of NELS and NRA. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Beautiful day here on the coast. I have bad Tinnitus today. Think I am probably tired - this will be my first day indoors for 18 days. Need to book a hair appointment for next week.
Today I plan to sort and put away my Easter bits now I have finished making for this year. I will bake a cake this afternoon for after the service tomorrow - I have some confetti egg decorations so will sprinkle them on a caramel topping.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Spent an hour or two at the farmer's open market. Bought some bacon, eggs, sos, jam and some apples. Definitely more expensive than the supermarkets, but they look more substantial and far less processed. So tomorrow will definitely be a Full English either for breakfast or dinner.
Finished a bit more housework, and now the time is our own. I'm reading a book about Cloud storage techniques, while my other half is in the garden doing plant stuff. (No idea what as I'm not green fingered
Have also cracked open my KitKat Easter Egg at long last. Yummy yum yum... but must try and restrain myself from eating the whole lot in one sitting!10 -
@snoozer, it's in the north, about an hour ish from Milan and from Bergamo. My parents always used to drive when they got their new car, in about the early nineties. In those days they had a notepad with the towns in France they were supposed ot pass through and they alwys got lost in Reims, and usually stayed the night in Lille or somewhere quiteclose to that way, then a night in Aosta..I would love to do the driving this time and I'm also looking at pick up trucks now. there is the motorhome but I'm not confident with that, a pickup would just be like driving my van again.I love the thought of a road trip, yours sounds fab. When I was yougner I went interailing with a friend and we went all across Mediterranean Europe. Trouble is now, I don't feel as confident as organising things if that makes sense. How did you approach having somewhere to stay or did you have motorhome type thing?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Thanks Izzy and nanny, it’s good to know people like to hear the day’s doings no matter how boring they might seem. So, here’s today’s ramblings!
The weather is a bit mixed here today, sunshine one minute and cloudy the next, but it’s very warm and there’s no breeze at all. I had a walk to the Co-op earlier and dithered over whether to wear a coat or not and decided that a cardigan would do instead. By the time I got back, I was wishing I hadn’t bothered with that either - I was decidedly warm! I got the bits I wanted plus a couple of ys items - sprouts and a pack of pain au chocolat - so it was a worthwhile outing.
I’ll be doing a sm delivery order soon. I don’t really need a lot as we’re pretty well stocked up but I do need some soap powder and bleach so they’ll help to get me to the total spend needed to use my pre-paid delivery pass. That’s working out well; so far I’ve had 6 deliveries with it and just need to do another 4 (2 in May and 2 in June) and after that it will have paid for itself. If I have 2 deliveries per month between July and next Feb, at £4 per delivery I will have saved £56 by paying for an annual pass, so I’m pleased I got one.
The washing basket is beginning to fill up again but it can wait until later in the week when I should have a full load. I also intend to change the living room curtains this week, but again, there’s no rush although I do want them done.
Tea tonight is a seafood salad and there’s some apple pie & custard for afters. And maybe a sneaky chocolate or two this evening although I probably should save them for tomorrow!
That pudding sounds rather scrumptious Wicked_Lady. I might give it a try myself one day.
I hope you have good news about your DM Ruby. It’s a worry, isn’t it. Try to enjoy your fishy BBQ tonight.
We have the same romantic antics with wood pigeons, nanny.
Good news your BFF is home already TA and that she had a comfortable night in her own bed. May the good progress continue.
Florenceem, you are such a busy lady! It will seem strange to be indoors today so I hope the tinnitus calms down for you.
Enjoy the Easter break everyone if you can and take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
