2 Different Adresses

Hi All,
I just wanted to ask whether it is legal/possible to have 2 different home addresses.
I want to live with my parents at one adress (live for free) and also live sometimes at another address ( an apartment that I want to rent) for around 4 months.
I want to make the apartment as main adress on my driving licence and make a new bank card with the apartment adress but on the same time I don't want to remove myself from my parents address as it will take too long to change adress in every place.
So is possible for me to have 2 different home addresses as sometimes I will live in the apartment and sometimes with my parents?
Thanks.

Yes. University students who live away from home during term time do this.
If you want ID / bank cards with the rented address on it is a good idea to register to vote at both places.1 -
Hi,
I am not a student but I work full time.
Both houses are around 10 miles distant from each other.
So are you saying that it will be legal for me to have 2 home addresses ( 2 different postcodes)
For example 2 Bank cards named in one address and 1 bank card named in another address. ?
Also, driving licence and insurance named in 1 address and Tax Account ( DWP or other Government's services) named on another address ?

For certain purposes you can only have one main address. The other would be either a 2nd home, or a place you visit, or....eg Council Tax. The rate you pay on your main home is different to a 2nd home, and determining which is which is a question of fact, based on a variety of factors.Similarly for Capital Gains Tax (not relvant to you here), there is no CGT on selling your 'primary residence' but there is on a 2nd home.So yes, you can have two homes, but only one can be yoru main home for certain purposes.1

My parents live on rent and same for the apartment as I will rent it ( I Don't own it ).
So what about HMRC, DWP and other government services ?
My parents agreed that they will let me know when a letter on my name comes ( for examples if any bank letter, tax letter comes etc...)
Can I still keep 2 adresses ?0 -
plenty of people have 2 addresses - adult childrne move out and their parents still get post from the bank etc etc though driving licences have new address.
the issue comes if you need proof of address for anything eg DBS check or if you children are applying for a specific school etc etc then the problems of address fraud start0 -

OP, it might help if you explain why you're planning to do this and why you're concerned about the "legality" or otherwise of it?4 -
One address must be a permanment address of residence, which is where you are registered on the electorical role, and is also your billing address. The other address can be a correspondance address. You cannot have two billing addresses, or have banks etc registered at an address where you are not registered to vote, as it will impact your credit file.
You can live at both however.0 -

You can live at both however. You can be on the electoral register at more than one address (but you can't vote more than once in an election). The only significant 'impact' on your credit file would be having 'missing' information (e.g. accounts not showing up because they are at a different address to the details searched). There's no legal requirement to have only one 'billing address', or to have bank accounts 'registered' at an address where you are on the electoral register. If obtaining credit or opening new accounts is not a priority for you, the credit file issue is not one that necessarily needs worrying about.2
