Whoops, I closed my PC while active updates was running

Hello, is there anyone out there that could offer some advice please???

I closed down my pc at home and didnt realise that the active updates were running.:eek: .. whoops... I cant get onto windows now to system restore.

Someone has mentioned a system restore disc :confused: , which I dont have or know what it is..... does anyone have any advice please.... I am not at present very popular with my husband. :mad:

or can someone suggest a way to get back to windows allowing me to system restore to a previous day? all I have is a black screen with white text.

    Try starting in Safe Mode.

  • I didn't think it was possible to close down your PC while Active updates was running. If it is mine in the past normally installs the updates before it closes down. So this may not be the issue with your PC :)

    Even if you did shut down your PC, it shouldn't cause any problems as windows doesn't configure the updates until the next time you boot up, sounds like a very random error, but if you hold down F8 during startup there should be an option that says "Last known good configuration", if not, then it will have to be a system repair using the original OS CD.
