Guitar humidifier?

My son has bought a new guitar and is talking about a humidifier, any personal recommendations, or any to avoid?

Not really needed in this country unless you have the heating on to silly levels.

You'd be better off buying a (decent) humidity meter, and finding out whether the current humidity falls within the range which the (acoustic?) guitar finds acceptable.Of course, if it is only a cheap guitar, the humidity value probably wouldn't be worth worrying about.1

I don't know the exact model but its one of the Martin D28's.0

I guess he needs to work out what the relative humidity is like at home. If the RH regularly goes outside of 40%-60% then yes it may be worth while getting one.
I'd imagine you get the best advice from any decent music/guitar shop.1 -
Just gad a look on the internet and a Martin D28 costs around $3,000 (£2,000) so perhaps a humidifier might be important.
