What does Sp * mean on a credit card bill?

Hi My CC bill this month shows an item listed only as " Sp * [town name] (Contactless in App) " I can't find any guide to what that stands for. I was shopping that day but it's a bit more than I would expect to spend in one shop, though not hugely so. The nearest suggestion I can find is that someone's card reader wasn't working very well that day. I'm fairly sure it wasn't an on line transaction as I don't normally do on line with local shops. Thanks for any plausible suggestions. And I am fairly sure it wasn't the car park charge, unless they are taking the mickey.

Sp * means you've purchased from a trader (online or real-world) that uses Shopify for its card processing.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com2

Thank you that is a help though it doesn't get me closer to which shop! You'd expect it to be a new business and there aren't any! My guess is in that case that my credit card provider won't know any more.

Card provider will be able to tell the type of retailer (Catsic code) & also actual date & time of transaction 👍Life in the slow lane0

In on line and app banking if you can click on the transaction it may show you the classification of the store.

guess would be small/independent retailer - something like a takeaway, cafe or corner shop, or possibly a concession inside a department store.
