My phone number has been logged incorrectly getting texts from Studio for someone else

Options
Hi, someone has incorrectly entered my phone number when opening an account with Studio, and I get regular texts for payment reminders. Have called them 6 times but they said they can’t do anything as I don’t have an account number. Have also e mailed them with no response. The person’s name is Katie, and they must have sold my number (or had a security issue) as I have also had scam texts addressed to Katie. Any idea how I can get this stopped? Thanks

Neither of those. Katie's been a bit slapdash with her data entry skills.

As above, block the numbers you don't want to hear from.

I once had something like that when I "inherited" a work phone and kept getting messages from a bank on it; it was beyond the capabilities of man to put it right.
I solved it by leaving the company (well, maybe a bit of artistic licence there - I left for other reasons).
  • I can block the number and the other numbers but will mine be attached to any bad credit ratings?

No, neither a phone number nor and address can have a credit file, only a person

There is also no such thing as a bad credit rating in the UK, just a bad credit history. The 'ratings' are made up by credit reference agencies.

You can get them to remove it but phoning the customer number is not going to do it, since you are not one.

Twitter usually is easiest is they have a presence, otherwise a written complaint. Of course there is nopthing to stop it re-occuring if the customer puts it back on because thereis no requirement for verificatin.

Or just go along with them and see how much details about the customer you can get and go tell them yourself, you will get it all eventually.

I started getting debt collection texts a couple of years ago, I emailed the company, told them they had the wrong number and that they had no right to use mine and the texts stopped.

Customer services agents also wouldn't have the capability to find a customer record using a phone number (so they wouldn't be able to find which record to change) - that woudl probably require a tech-support ticket to be raised.

This would also mean that even if they're incompetent, you won't be able to get any details of the actual customer out of them
  • Hi am still getting these texts despite blocking the number ? Also they have obviously had a security leak or sold on my number as I am getting spam texts addressed to the same person.
