Replacing a toilet seat.

I'm a landlord who doesn't live locally to my property and have the following quote.
Wobbly toilet seat and contractor said the bolts were damaged so seat needed replacing. They've quoted £150 Inc VAT. This sounded excessive to me.
If that's the cost them I'll give them the go ahead but just sounded very high to me?

It depends on the seat they are refitting. If a specific toilet seat is required for the model of toilet, it's a fair price. If it is a standard toilet seat, then it does seem a bit expensive. Toilet seats are about £35-40 these days (for anything worth having), and the labour should be about £70-80, so the cost shouldn't be more than £120. Ask them what model of seat they are fitting and where they are getting it from. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Small jobs always seem disproportionately expensive because although the fitting of a new toilet seat is a 30 minute job most of the time the trade may not be able to fill the rest of the day. It's also possible that they don't really want such a small job. Can you not offer your tenant £100 to obtain a new seat or just bolts and fix it themselves?
I must admit that the last time I was a tenant I fixed the toilet seat myself, it's no more difficult that changing a plug.0 -

Last time I looked at toilet seats there were some as low as £5 (which might last about a week....) and then all the way up to whatever. I'd def talk to the tenant and ask if they could do the work and you could order the toilet seat to be delivered to them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
