British Gas enforced smart? meter installation

Thanks for replies and for clarifying the right of entry to replace an end of life meter. With serious health issues the last thing I need right now is a switch to an electric or gas smart meter, or both, and having to chase up installation of functioning issues.I’ve been Googling for utilities to check the DCC signal strength in our postcode but keep coming to dead ends. Please can someone point me at a utility that checks if a SMETS2 will work in a specific are?

I'm led to believe that they aren't replacing "like for like" any more, so highly unlikely to agree to use old style meter. That went away a little while ago, as a minimum they are entitled to take monthly readings without requiring customer permission. The customer can still deny permission for half-hour data to be collected though, or regular daily reads, if they wish.
As we can expect to see an increase in time-of-use tariffs, it is worth remembering that kWh/year will no longer provide an accurate comparison. New tools are being developed that allow third-parties (Registered DCC Other Users), with the specific approval from the consumer, to 'pull' 12 month's worth of 30 minute usage data. This data is then used to populate a price comparison tool which will list the cheapest tariffs on the basis of when energy is used not just kWh/year.0 -
[Deleted User] said:This changes from next month onwards. The smart meter default position will 30 minute profiling for domestic smart meters. This change is being brought about because the Government wants to see more time-of use tariffs. Consumers can opt out of 30 minute profiling; however, I guess a bit like organ donation most consumers will just accept the default position.
