Hi all, question my brother is looking to put an offer in on a property but could potentially be deployed and will have no access to communication. Can he have a proxy (likely me) to do all the paperwork and everyone deal with me? TIA

His solicitor can draft a power of attorney either so he can act or your brother can appoint you, or someone else.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2

I acted as proxy for my mother’s sale and purchase when she was abroad. I think the solicitor arranged it. There was no mortgage involvement, not sure if that would make a difference.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j1

Power of Arrorney. Either you or his solicitor. But it's a huge responsibility if he really has " no access to communication" as the POA would have to make critical decisions eg ultimately whether to buy or not (or whether to renegotiate price if eg survey showed something) etc.

If he's not contactable then bear in mind it won't just be "doing the paperwork" but potentially having to make decisions on his behalf if issues come up during the process - are you and him happy with that sort of responsibility?1

Wouldn't it be more prudent to wait until he is in a position when he is available ?0
