New phone at sale price few days after purchase - anything I can do??

Bought a new mobile phone from Argos last week. Didn't want to spend a fortune so it's at the cheaper end. It's even cheaper now they've reduced the price by $30! (pounds not dollars but can't locate the pound sign...) Am rather miffed, but suspect there's nothing I can do. I bought it from the local store, it wasn't an order, paid cash, so probably don't have a leg to stand on. This probably happens all the time. Oh, I can't return it either as it has all my stuff on it now.
Is there anything that can be done here to reclaim the excess $30 I paid??

Do you have a receipt? Retailers commonly allow returns within 30 days even if the product has no fault.
I know Argos can be a bit anal if the packaging has been opened - have you opened it yet?
Oftentimes retailers are happy to refund the difference if you contact them shortly after purchase - I had the same thing happen with a purse I purchased for my partner (similar, about 3-4 days after purchase it was reduced in price by £30).
They don't want to play silly buggers, or incur the costs, of you 'changing yoru mind' and returning it for a full refund, to then buy the now-reduced same item.Know what you don't0 -

If the price went up by £30 would you have offered to pay the extra?
You win some, you lose some. Could ask if they are willing to refund, but probably won't.8 -
You didn't pay anything in excess, you paid the current price that you were happy with.
Would you rush back to pay £30 back if it'd gone up?3 -
The simple answer is 'No'.

As above, you didn't pay anything excess. You were happy with the price at the time. No harm in asking, but you have no right to anything.0

Seriously Op you should have waited another 6 months or so and you would have got 50% off the current price.
The price of phones moves on a daily basis and you need to time your purchase as best you can, some you win, most you lose.0 -
Bought a bbq off amazon 2 weeks ago and by the time it arrived it was £50 cheaper on their site. Contacted them and said we were thinking of returning it and buying it at the cheaper price.... They refunded £50. Not sure Argos world be as accommodating but worth a try.0

Thanks for all your responses. Yes, phone has been opened and my bits and pieces transferred from old phone. Though I'm not actually using it yet as not transferred the SIM card over. I bought the phone in a panic as dropped old one in the bath and needed one fairly quickly as the damp one was playing up and I suspected it could stop working at any moment. Must've dried out though as it's still going, albeit with a dodgy volume function.
To the poster who mentioned that prices change quickly with phones, yes, I knew about this but didn't think I had the luxury of time (due to waterlogged Samsung...)
I rang customer services to ask about this and the guy was all set to refund me the difference until it became clear that I'd bought it from a store and there was no order number. So if there'd been proof of purchase it looks like it would have been possible.
As it happens, I couldn't even find the receipt so didn't have the option of going to Argos. Oh well, at least I have a phone for when my current one gives out.0
