Are variable tariffs the same for providers in a region?
Options
Like many people, we came off a fixed tariff end of March and are now on a standard variable tariff. According to our smart meter our daily cost has increased by (a shocking) 120%..
We are with ScottishPower and could not find details of their standard variable tariff on their web site, are providers not obliged to show all their tariffs?
Irrespective, will all providers in our region have exactly the same standard variable tariff ie will standing charges be the same. If not, depending on usage, could you make a saving my moving to another providers standard variable tariff?

If it is a single-rate tariff then there isn't going to be much difference between any of them, but if it is Economy 7 then there can be differences in the spread between day/night that would make one supplier a better choice than another depending on your particular mix of use.You can find your tariff here: https://www2.scottishpower.co.uk/tariff-information.process?execution=e2s1For example, here is their standard variable rate with DD payment for the Eastern region...

Why are standing charges different per region at times and I also think the standard, the variable tariff was different by a few pence per region if my memory serves me well. I'm not referring to the E7 rates but the standard variable rates.0

Even if suppliers are different you are unlikely to be able to move unless you accept a fixed rateRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
