Odd behaviour with my MacBook Air

Yesterday and today I clicked onto the icon for MSE and found I had to change my password to log on as it would not accept me.
This morning was the same, so again I had to change my password to get online .No idea why this has suddenly started to happen !!!!!! previously I just clicked on the icon and was straight on. It seems as soon as I close the lid it stops me logging in and won't let me back until I change my password.is it a problem with my laptop, or me I am not very techy minded soanswrs if you have any in plain english
as in nothing too technical
