Hi everyone,
I moved into my new home last May and Ive had a pre payment meter since then.
Everything has been going well, however my meter broke down which left me not being able to put in my 20 digit number so eventually I ran out of electric.
I rang them and at 9pm on Monday night a engineer came out to replace it.He replaced it with a classic one just to get me back on electric,he told me ring Scottish Power the next day to arrange another engineer to fit a pre payment meter for me,this is what I did.
However they are insisting I have to keep the meter they have installed and they wont change it back to a pre payment meter.I told them this is the only way I can deal with my electric bills but they were having none of it and said a firm no to me.
Does anyone know if they are allowed to refuse me please??
I have tried looking online for other suppliers that do a pre payment meter but its just not letting me get anywhere with them
Any help would be appreciated if possible please.

Raise a formal compliant with them and once again make it clear that you consider this to be an essential part of your ability to manage payments to them..You may have to accept that it will be a smart prepayment meter, but they should install that for you without any charge.I would also suggest that you take daily meter readings while you are on the credit meter to make sure you know what you are using so there are no surprises with the bill.0
