When I go to File Manager and look at 'documents' the whole list has a grey X over each file and I cannot open them. Any ideas please.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The grey x could mean a onedrive sync issue - are you using onedrive ?
it could also be a permissions issue - if you boot in safe mode can you access them ?1 -

Have you tried opening them from within the relevant application? So, for documents, presumably Word, or Adobe Reader?
No free lunch, and no free laptop

Have you loaded any new programmes that may interfere. I have Windows Office. When I bought this laptop it had W365 - I loaded various documents when I got it - no problem until I loaded Office at which point I could not access, W365 and Office clashed Removed 365 and everything OK

Thank you everyone now sorted. Pure fluke because it wasn't planned. It was in fact as you say a One Drive issue. Went into ‘One Drive Personal’ then ‘getting started’ also had the grey X but I managed to open it and the X disappeared. Then checked all the other files and they were the same…hurrahOlinda99 said:The grey x could mean a onedrive sync issue - are you using onedrive ?
