SunLife shares

Just received an unsolicited offer to buy my shares in Sunlife for £26
Is this a fair offer?
Or is it possible to sell elsewhere?
If so how?

It is a real offer or a scammer?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.2

How did they get your details? What premium is that to the current price? Normally unsolicited offers are scamsRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Probably a scam. How were you approached? Can you be more specific about the company and shares you own? Are you sure they aren't defunct? The only "Sunlife" I'm aware of is a Canadian company named Sun Life Financial Inc which trades both in Toronto, CAD69.98 per share, and New York, USD55.36 per share.geobow said:Just received an unsolicited offer to buy my shares in Sunlife for £26

Thanks letter in post from OBATAN LLC regarding cash tender offer for sunlife of Canada and including a 9 page document and while it looks genuine the offer of £26 seams well below the price I've seen on line.
Don't have a stock broker so unsure how else I could sell them.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks

Mini-tender offers are a thing in the US and I'm guessing Canada. Many are pitched at a low price, though, which - so says Sun Life Financial of Canada - is the case here. You need to work out the numbers based on the exchange rates with the listing in Toronto: c.£55.36 vs the offer you've received of £26 (if it's €30 then it will actually be £25).geobow said:Thanks letter in post from OBATAN LLC regarding cash tender offer for sunlife of Canada and including a 9 page document and while it looks genuine the offer of £26 seams well below the price I've seen on line.

I would ignore the offer.
Apparently you can sell them via Link, see below.
Google threw this up:

You don't need your own stockbroker. I sold my SLOC shares last year using the Link group who handle the shares, was easy to arrange and dealing cost was around £42 at that time.geobow said:
