Moving house and can't take ovo fixed till September 2023 tariff. Help 🙏
Morning
Stupidly I thought when we move at the end of this month we can take our ovo fixed till September 2023 deal with us and am now in a panic because we can't and I am struggling to work out what our options are as the comparison sites just tell me to stick with the tariff I'm on which obviously I can't do because I'm moving. What can I do, will I move on to the existing supplier at the property standard tariff? They are with octopus. The only comparison I managed to get takes me from 165 a month to a whooping 506! I work from home too 😩
I have no idea how I'm supposed to afford this or where to look to find a better deal if such a thing exists.
I am dreading moving

Unfortunately your fixed deal is with your property and not a personal one. While a few companies like EDF have been reported allow you to take the deal with you, there is no legal right to it, and if OVO refuses you, there is nothing you can do about it.
When you move you will become an Octopus customer on a capped rate as you have seen already.
There are no "good" fixed deals out there, everything is more expensive than the variable rates at this moment, it is even hard at the moment to find a company taking you on at a standard variable rate.
The price comparison you did, was that for a fixed rate or was it for the SVT? What are you current rates?
Will your energy use be the same in the new house, or are you able to make savings?0 -
That was a fix with ovo for 2 years. I won't be able to make any savings as I'll be working from home full time and at the moment I'm not so ill be using a lot more electricity unfortunately.
Where do I find the standard rates for octopus or will they inform me when I move?0 -
