Ladies/Gents,

I moved into a 1 bed property in July 2021 and in October 2021 I found that the current supplier (symbio) was going into administration. They have quite heavily overestimated my usage which was agreed with Eon, when I contacted Eon about the usage they refused to change my meter reading. Considering Symbio is in administration can I further negotiate my final bill with Symbio admins and possibly lower it down ever further?

The symbio "guestimate" will cover me for probably 2 years, but while they are in administration and their final bill quoted me 17.45p per kWh and 21.00p standing change am I legally obliged to meet their minimum payments or can I possibly say to administrators that I can potentially pay half of that?

Thanks,
Tom

You were supposed to supply Symbio with monthly readings; I take it you did not do that?   So the handover reading was based on an estimate which was much higher than your actual reading?  You lucky cuss!  This means you have paid in advance for electricity you will not use for another two yeas but you have got it at a very much cheaper rate than you would have to pay Eon now.

Forget Symbio and their administrators.  Give Eon your correct meter reading today.  You will probably have to speak to a Customer Services agent to do that as their online system may not take a reading that is less than the one they have on record.  If they don't believe your reading, ask for them to send someone to read your meter.

When you sort things with Eon then everything should come out in the wash; you'll have the right reading and something like the right monthly payment and, if you are lucky, you will have got some electricity cheaper than you would otherwise have done.

Surely you took a meter reading as advised by email repeatedly by Eon and Ofgem when the switch occured?

Hopefully you have that to send to Eon and as above speak to a person and it will sort itself out.

Just on a matter of fact, Symbio has not been dissolved, they remain in administration at this time....
