Not keen on the idea of throwing it in the bin.
But at the same time it wont turn on.
Tried going through Apple for repairs etc ages ago but IIRC their suggestions involved turning the thing on ... which it wont do. Made a thread on it some time ago too but we got nowhere.
So trying to have a clearout of the house & wondering what to do with it. I'm sure there were banking details on it - apps where you'd need the security details obviously but still.
So how'd you dispose of it in this situation? Would you simply chuck it in the bin?

Even if someone got hold of it, without the passcode all data in the storage would be encrypted and not accessible.1

You can take it to any Apple Store in the UK for recycling
Apple lets you recycle any Apple device and devices from Apple owned brands at any Apple Store. We’ll make sure it’s recycled responsibly or given a chance to be used again. Some devices may also be eligible for credit. You can bring your batteries and old Apple-products to any Apple Store, and we’ll recycle them responsibly, free of charge.

Have you tried plugging into a PC/Mac and seeing if it comes to life via iTunes? If your iPad won't turn on or is frozen – Apple Support (UK)
If it really won't come to life and you just want to dispose then either take to Apple store for recycling or your local council tip. As above all data should be encrypbted anyway if you locked with a passcode.1 -
Why take a chance, though? Hit it with a large hammer, and/or drive the car over it. I’d only send it to apple for recycling if I had definitely wiped it.
Paranoid? Yes, when it comes to bank information. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -

Paranoid? Yes, when it comes to bank information.) Apple will have no interest in your piggy bank, they are valued in the $trillion, plus the device encryption is fine unless there is a court order.
