2sv and cookies

I've been trying to add 2 step verification (2sv) to my email, but lack of knowledge about cookies is proving a problem.
The 2sv kicks in each time I login with the same device.
On Chrome I have:
Block third-party cookies
which seems to mandate: Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows
So under:
Customized behaviors>Sites that can always use cookies
I put:
mail.yahoo.com
However, this doesn't seem to help.
How can I clear cookies when closing the browser, but keep just the one Yahoo cookie I need for recognising the device?
