Couples who live together: how do you deal with bills when you're paid on different dates?

I get paid on the 20th if every month and my partner is paid on the last Wednesday of every month, so sometimes he’s paid on the very last day of the year.We usually pay into our joint account around the 27th of each month, or he will pay in on payday if it’s after that time. Pretty much all my bills are DD and I could pick the date they came out of my account - so I always picked dates for outgoings in the first week of the following month after payday. It works well for us!0

We do the same. As I am the one who does all the looking for better deals, renewing house insurance etc it makes more sense that I just have the money paid to me and deal with from there.MovingForwards said:No joint account.
Bills come out of my account just after my payday, OH transfers money to me on his payday.
It works for us, but probably wouldn't for the majority of people.Been around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!1 -
I add both of our wages together, minus all the shared bills such as mortgage, gas & electric etc. and the remaining money is then divided in 2. I pay all the bills currently and the Mrs will then send me the difference so we both have same left as I earn more. Works well. All personal bills like car insurance, phone etc. is taken out of our personal money, not shared.0

I get paid on the last working day and my husband gets paid 4 weekly so his payday changes every month. How we've worked it, is that all the bills that have a set day at the start of the month come out of my wages. Flexible bills come out of his i.e groceries, petrol, child care etc and some end of month bills. We now have a joint account so we can both see/check it's being paid for piece of mind.0

Sorry forget to add we each have our own accounts and the joint account is exclusively for bills.0

Single, but I have a bank account for bills only:
Day 1 get paid
Day 2: certain amount is transferred by standing order to that account any increase in bills, the amount is amended ready, check monthly to ensure each bill is taken.
Doesn't matter what dates they are taken, it's a bill only account and is ready to be taken.0
