Opening a child account in branchthe

I told them I don't want to do that and have even spoken to the CEO of Barclays who isn't gonna change the way of doing things. I hate videos and to be honest I don't see why banks don't allow people to open up accounts in branch any more. I prefer to deal with a person in real life, not over some app. I'm a technophobe before someone tells me it's the way forward.
Thanks in advance for any advice on this matter.

You've apparently exhausted the options with Barclays - and if that's really the case (you actually spoke to Matt Hammerstein?) no advice will help change the situation.
The only obvious advice is to either use their video system, or to try another bank where they might allow you to do things your way.1 -
It seems Barclays have inadvertently done your child a favour as you get savings accounts with much better interest rates elsewhere https://moneyfacts.co.uk/savings-accounts/childrens-savings-accounts/?quick-links-first=false1

If you're after an account that can be operated in person so your child can walk in make deposits/withdrawals, you might be better off exploring what any local building societies can offer.
My kids both have a building society passbook account - they are both still quite young and this is entirely so they can "see" the money they are saving and spending to help it mean something, it's about saving having a tangible meaning (and they don't have much so the few pennies extra they could be getting elsewhere doesn't really matter at this stage).0 -

Do you have (or are you prepared to open) a Santander account?
https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/current-accounts/123-mini-current-account- For children under age 13, the account must be opened in trust and managed by an adult (trustee). The trustee must be aged 18 or over, have parental responsibility for the child and have a Santander personal current account. Trustees must apply in branch.

If it's the latter I find it ridiculous, the closest appointment available is nearly 2 months away and at times which clash with work.0 -
According to the website you can open it in branch or if you CAN use video banking. It does'lt say you must
You can apply in branch – please bring your child's birth certificate with you. If you don’t already bank with us, you’ll also need to bring proof of ID and your address.
Apply in branch
Find your nearest branch here – you can search by address, town or postcode.
If you’re an adult aged 18 or over and you’d like to open a Barclays Children's Savings account for a child younger than 18, you can use Video Banking. You’ll need to bank with us already, have the Barclays app and the Barclays Video Banking app, and have your child's birth certificate to hand. Learn more about Video Banking.
