Hello all, so heating is off in this household with the backup electric blanket on the bed and electric throw if needed during the evening.

Water heating for just 45 mins a day ASHP (runs a bacteria heat weekly) just 2 adults.

But due to being very bad hay fever sufferers the tumble dryer is still on 5 times a week. Has anyone tried the electric heated indoor dryers and what would they recommend?

Also adjusted the fridge freezer it was set to run too cold on the fridge and freezer so fridge set to 5oC and Freezer set to -17oC unless someone tells me this is bad.

I do wonder as we are vegetarian at home and have no meat in the freezer if it can actually run even warmer?

Your freezer should be at -18C or colder.  Warm fridges and freezers are a very bad idea because you risk food poisoning or worse.

Those temperatures should be OK, they are at the warm end of the recommended range.
Since you say vegetarian rather than vegan I wouldn't suggest going warmer as you may have dairy products in the fridge, similarly with the freezer you have to allow for the fact that it warms up when the door is open so you don't want to go warmer than you have it already if you want to actually keep everything frozen.

I suggest to use a good thermometer to check that the temperature you set is what you get. That is not always the case.

5c is ok for the fridge, -17 is borderline, remember that it will warm up if you open it often, so -18c or lower is more recommended. I keep mine at -20c to ensure all food is kept at least -18 at all times.
A dehumidifier and standard (not heated) clothes airer will be far cheaper than a tumble drier.

Noted, I think with it all being veg, ice cube, couple of freezer blocks and some Cornetto own brands in there it will all be safe. We don't have any meat in there and the fridge freezer is a brand new Samsung with some special keep everything the same temp technology.

It also alarms when the door is open too long and goes into quick boost mode when you do.

Just read another post on washing machine eco Vs fast. We always use fast so time to give eco a go

5x dryer for just 2 seems over the top to me.

Indeed, baby steps it is down from 7 with my partner due to their extreme pollen reaction.

When our smart meter updates with our new fixed deal I suspect I can convince her more on the savings when it's whizzing round at 29.24p kWh🤣

What is the connection between hayfever and using a tumble-dryer? Is it simply doing more washing or is there some specific benefit of the heating?

@Ultrasonic not having the ability to hang washing outside to dry as they collect pollen.

Ah, didn't think of that  :). Could you not dry clothes indoors? I do in winter without any apparent issues.
