Morning all.
It's a milder start to the day, I'm hoping it continues.

Now I have a coffee I feel more awake.Yesterday was a mostly quiet day punctuated by brief moments of activity. Nothing much happened, I only spoke to the postie for a few minutes. My excitement came in the late afternoon when I got an email which had attached the translation of a long document from my DM's collection. It tells of the last few days of WW2 in Berlin moving from terrible accounts of the British and Russian bombing, fighting in the streets, food rationing and even the day of capitulation. The person writing it speaks about the huge relief at the end of regime and hope for a new freedom. There's no indication of who wrote it but the (male) person lived in the same street as my DM and her cousin though I'm confident it wasn't by this cousin. It certainly made me think hard about the times our parents lived through. 😞
My day is still to unfold. I can see that the bird feeders need fill in and I have to pack for my overnight stay in Glasgow tomorrow. That'll take care of 15 minutes. 😀
Thoughts to our poorlies and their families. Happy Tuesday to all.16 -
Morning all
Quire mild and no rain here which is nice, its the easter holidays here so good weather for the kids who are off school.
I heard nothing at all from my boss yesterday till about 3 in the afternoon when I had to phone the top cafe (we work on the same site but she works in the main top cafe and i work alone in the clients cafe ) she was as nice as pie to me ! she said 'hello sweetheart how are you'. to say I was shocked would be an understatement ! she has either been told to back off because of my recent health issues or she is keeping it under her hat for further use, we will see but at least it was ok yesterday, thank you again for all the reassurances, we will see what the rest of the week brings !
Dinner tonight will be the chicken from yesterday, it didn't cook in time so we had Gnocci and salad instead and will have the chicken tonight with mash and salad, dd is off today so she can do some potatoes ready for when we get in.
DW has been emptied and I will put a wash on before I go to work.
Have good days all and take care xxx16 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. It feels milder here too but yesterday was a letdown. The blooming strong wind that appeared from nowhere made it feel flippin' cold all day.
My cold really took off yesterday, nose streaming and non-stop sneezing all day. I did a LFT just in case it was more than a cold but thankfully it was negative! I shall do another this morning as I have an Optician's appointment this afternoon and want to feel safe. I am way overdue for new specs and expect to have my hands smacked. I dread to think what a pair will cost these days. Have they gone up as well as everything else?!
No Tuesday coffee and lunch meet today. My BFF has been isolating as best she can ahead of her op on Thursday as she certainly doesn't want it postponing. She has opted for a total mastectomy rather than a lumpectomy as she feels that is the best option for her. She is being very brave about it all for her family's sake but obviously she is worried.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and convalescing. Thoughts are with you all. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"16 -
Good morning ,thanks for starting Gers. it's a grey start here, but dry.Gers, the email you received must have been interesting, shocking and moving - did your DM talk much about the times she lived through during WW2? It's given you food for thought hasn't it. I remember my parents talking about the war a lot when I was little, I was born in 1948 so in the early 50's it was all still fresh and immediate in their minds.Ruby, glad your day was ok yesterday, with regard to your boss, see what happens next.We went to the caravan yesterday to return things I'd brought home for washing, and we'll go over again this afternoon with the pans, I'd brought them home to put them in the dishwasher, forgot them on Sunday. DH wants to hitch the van up to take it for a drive just to make sure all's well..Before that though it's our Residents' Association meeting this morning, but that's usually just an hour or so.Thinking of our poorly and sad people, also those struggling with life for whatever reason - take care folks.16

Good morning all and a bright and sunny day here in the Garden of England already. I have my weekly coffee fest at Dobbies with my friends this morning so lots of nattering and laughing will no doubt ensue.
Tuesdays is my 'play day' I do no housework at all if I can help it just coffee morning followed by a trip to the library.
No shopping to buy, as I did a full inventory of my freezer and have a good month at least of dinners available and I am running it down to defrost. Lunch will be leek and potato soup that I made at the weekend and I fancy sausage and mash for dinner tonight so dug some out of the freezer including some mash potaoes and veg so very little to cook tonight either
I will probably have a walk around the local park where the small lake is after coffee this morning, as I want to see how the mama Duck and her little brood are doing
So a nice easy day ahead, right I must get the recycling out as they are due at 8.00 and they are always on the dot in my road
have a good day everyone and if you have some enjoy the spring sunshine
Stay safe and take care

Morning All
Freedom day for me although I feel like a washed out rag, poor night's sleep - probably the excitement of being able to go out! I fell asleep at lunchtime yesterday for a couple of hours so that wouldn't have helped.
It's rained overnight and more due today but dry for now. The throws I put out yesterday were all dry and put back where they belong. No washing to do today. I hoovered round upstairs yesterday, need to clean the bathrooms today.
What an interesting document Gers, certainly gives you and insight to what's going on in the world at the moment.
Shame it took until the afternoon for your boss to speak to you Ruby, seems she's playing a game.
Hope you're feeling better today TA, positive thoughts to your BF.
I must do some shopping today, the cupboards are looking a bit bare and there's a distinct lack of fresh veg in the fridge. Will call at the allotment on the way home, I had said I would go up last week to help out, they must wonder where I've been.
Have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Good morning
Pouring with rain here, might curtail my walk unless it clears up. I bought some new walking boots in L1dl yesterday so want to try them out.
Well after my good night's sleep the night before I managed just over 3 hours last night🥱. I was up at 4am and have watched all of Holding, the series written by Graham Norton. Very enjoyable.
I don't suppose I'll get much done in the garden today so it'll be either housework or a nap 😴
Have as good a day as you can 🌻13 -
Hi everyone, Gers, your post made me think of the poor people of Ukraine who are going through very similar things now, why can we never learn? Ruby, I think it's likely that she suddenly realised how her email would look if you complained, she'd probably get more than a slap on the wrist for it. TA, I recently had 2 pairs of glasses made with different prescriptions plus extra thin lenses so that I'm not looking through milk bottle bottoms and it cost £370. That sounds expensive but 10-15 years ago I was paying the same for just one pair, the cost of thin lenses has come down. They're not varifocals by the way, just single focus, my eyes are too short-sighted for varifocals. I'm waiting for Steve who is going to drop me at the station so that I can go to look after Esben while Laura takes Brian out to lunch for his birthday. Steve will come down after he's played in his golf competition. We got rid of all the charity bags yesterday, along with the stuff for the tip so that was a good job done. I also made the gingerbread biscuits, Laura video called and I showed them to Esben, he was most excited. He can say gingerbread man perfectly but was getting into a real tangle trying to say gingerbread baby. He sang happy birthday to me (not my birthday) and showed me a flowery cake tin which he said was my cake and then treated me to a rendition of paw patrol complete with drumming on the tin. I may not get to post tomorrow so have a good day today and tomorrow if not.13

Morning all, bit dull & rain expected soon.Gers, interesting document. I'm lucky enough to have lots of stuff relating to my Gr. grandmother including some photos from her attending her son's funeral in France towards the end of the 1st WW, letters and postcards from her 5 sons who served, and hand written recipe books and hm remedies. My DGran kept them in a suitcase which was passed on to me when she died ( I think my DM would have chucked the lot out when we cleared Gran's house
)Camelot hope you perk up soon, and other poorlies. RR lets hope your boss realised how she came across in the email.I'm expecting DS to drop DGS off soon. He came yesterday once his Mum & SD came back from their short break at the seaside and he stayed at DS last night, as he'd missed his usual weekend sleepover. We went to the park, they had the rides and bouncy castles up- they've not been there for 2 years. Afterwards we went to the cafe, where I was good and just had a coffee, and he had a big ice cream. Izzy - I know what you mean about DGC energy
I got a shepherds pie out of the freezer so that was easy for tea, bit of space appearing so I've ordered a meat pack from the butchers.Right better go,take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10
