VAT Filing - Free Software

I need to file VAT returns for my old business. Until now, I have done it online, but HMRC seem to require me now to do this 'digitally'. (They don't mean on my fingers!)
I want some free software, just to do the 'bridging'. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Anyone used Vatify?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'm going to do this as well shortly, I know my bank (Natwest) is offering some free MTD software for this purpose. Not had much time to look at it yet.1

I'll ask the obvious ... if you were doing it online previously, wasn't that doing it digitally anyway?

#confused.comI ditched vat for our business ages ago, but I used to do it on a spreadsheet then enter the numbers into the hmrc website.Sadly (I think) just to 'simplify' things 🙄 the government have decided that businesses need to use a 3rd party program to do this!Go figure!0 -
There's a difference between filling in your VAT return online, which is what I suspect, like myself, the OP has been doing, and holding and administering your accounts digitally via recognised 3rd party software, which is what HMRC are expecting all business to do via there 'Making Tax Digital' (MTD) requirement. Up until 1 April only VAT registered businesses with an annual takeover of over £85,000 were required to do this but now all businesses, big or small must do so.Jenni_D said:I'll ask the obvious ... if you were doing it online previously, wasn't that doing it digitally anyway?

Bit late answering but I've just signed up to use Vatify and of the options I looked at it seemed the most uncomplicated and no strings attached. Fingers crossed!GDB2222 said:I need to file VAT returns for my old business. Until now, I have done it online, but HMRC seem to require me now to do this 'digitally'. (They don't mean on my fingers!)
