Loving one of the extractors in mil's new bungie. It has an 'iris'-type aperture covering the inlet, which remained shut when the fan was turned on. Hmmmmm, I was about to start proding it, when I noticed the wee label; "Delayed opening". 20 seconds later it started to unfold like summat from sci'-fi movie.

As my soffit was not suitable for drilling, I (had) installed roof tile-vents. They look like tiles, or slates or whatever your roof is covered with, but with vents incorporated. The flexible extractor ducting connects to the underside. They have worked very well for me, and there is no chance of damp air being sucked back in through the window trickle vents!
Out of interest, who did the work for you? I keep asking on local sites and seems like combination of electrician, plumber, builder, roofer etc which would cost a fortune? Did you do it yourself or get someone in?
In my case the only bit I'd really struggle with is getting the vent to the outside world. I don't have a ladder long enough to reach the roof (plus a wife who wouldn't let me climb it anyway) nor the tools to start digging a hole through. We've got a plasterer coming next month to do our living room ceiling who also does bathroom installs and he's said he'll help me out with this bit, so that helps.
