Flush profile upvc windows

Wondered if anyone had any experience of these as replacement windows? We are looking to change our windows and like the look of the flush profile windows you can get now.
We had one supplier around to give us a quote for new windows and asked about the flush profile option, he said he wouldn't even quote for them as the only house he had fitted them to has had constant problems with drafts and leaks and he has had to get the profile manufacturer involved in an attempt to rectify them.
He said that flush profile windows only work with aluminium frames and that they are over three times the cost of upvc frames.
Is he right? I have someone else lined up for a quote so will see what they say. (btw, the profile manufacturer the window fitter uses is Selecta).
Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

I have no direct experience, but the flush ones are the only type people are putting in around here now. Indeed a new-build, which planning said had to fit in with the surrounding street scene, has them.1

Thanks, we had second guy around today for a quote. He wasn't as dead set against them as the previous bloke but to say he was less than enthusiastic would be an understatement.Chickereeeee said:I have no direct experience, but the flush ones are the only type people are putting in around here now. They both might be having trouble with lead times or supplies . I haven't done too many but wouldn't turn it away . selecta are not the greatest tbf and upvc flush fitting look a bit fat with thick gasket compared to alli . Linier do a nice slim profile upvc

While I have not looked at the market for about four years, and things can change, I do question the 'slim profile' claim. I investigated numerous makes (PVC casement type) when selecting for some windows, and they ALL had the same thickness profile, within a few mm. Despite all their claims. That includes flush and storm window types. Some might look slimmer, but they were not. I opted for reconditioning the existing wooden windows where it mattered.greenface2 said:They both might be having trouble with lead times or supplies . Aluminium are thinner than PVC though.1 -
If youre talking thickness of the frame then 70mm front to back is standard now . For the profile the outerframe in most systems range quite a lot and usefull for full cover of inside outside installations . You can have outerframe from 80mm to 35mm , sash from 55 or common 60 in casements down to 40mm . some new upvc have sightlines of around 30mm on transom rather than the normal 55 mm . agreed alli is now down to 15mm sightline for large installations which can never be matched in pvcu

We have flush upvc residence R7, had them for over a year, no problems, no drafts, no leaks and love the flush look both inside and outside. We upgraded on a thicker sill on outside of window which I am happy with. Glad we didn’t go for the old style upvc.0
