Energy bill after 2 years
Hey Everyone,
I wanted some advice on this situation please.
I was with an energy supplier called Avro Energy 2 years ago and they went bust which led to me changing suppliers. As far as I can remember I paid off the final bill because I had to give meter readings and all to the new supplier, but not 100% sure. Last week I received a letter and a bill from their administrators/creditors stating I have an outstanding amount which needs to be paid in 7days or I could end up in court.
Not sure what my rights are here but I will be going through my bank account to see when/if that payment was made.
Any advice on this and my rights here would help please??

This is becoming a more common question of the forum as the administrators of the bust energy companies go through their accounts.Do you still have copies of your Avro bills, plus those from the previous supplier and the following one? If so, you can check that your Avro opening meter reading matched the closing reading from the previous supplier, and the closing reading matches the opening reading from the following supplier. You can also check that you have a closing statement from Avro, and evidence that you've paid it.If everything hangs together, you probably don't owe the money. If it doesn't hang together, you might still owe them something.Nosy said:Last week I received a letter and a bill from their administrators/creditors stating I have an outstanding amount which needs to be paid in 7days or I could end up in court.N. As indicated in a previous response to a similar question. Avro no longer holds a Supply Licence so it is no longer subject to Ofgem Regulations on BackBilling or compensation. The Administrators of a failed supplier have a legal duty to recover all monies owed to the failed company, and under the Statute of Limitations in England have up to 6 years to lodge a claim.
Giving readings to the SoLR had nothing to do with Final Billing per se. It was so that it could determine a meter reading for the change of supply gain date which is usually c.10 days after the date it was appointed as the SoLR. The failed supplier should then issue a Final Bill and the SoLR will then agree a change of supply meter reading for the SoLR appointment date. You do, of course, retain the legal right to defend any claim made against you. These matters are a lot easier if the advice on this and many other forums was followed which was to take photographs of the meter indexes on the day of the supplier failure and the SoLR appointment date.0 -
In my case my HDD got fried about a month ago so all my Avro bills might not be recoverable. I gave Avro readings on the 23rd and not the 26th so I could owe them for 20 kWh of electric but nothing on the gas as my reading on the 26th for gas was still the same as the reading on the 23rd, this would be about £3 on the electric as my final bill SC went up to the 26th for electric and gas.
Someone please tell me what money is0 -
How have you gone on with this Nosey?0

I have tried calling the administrator to let them know that I think I have likely paid the final bill as I can recall making a payment bit can't find from which account or to the agency at the time.
No one picks up and just asked to leave a voicemail which i have done.0
