Although she hasn't wanted one before we are in need of a mobile 'phone for my wife.
We have got our eye on a recent Samsung mid range model. (Which best buy)
We are unlikely to change and therefore want an extended period for security updates.
(Nothing to do with wanting the latest fashion)
At the moment the Samsung phone has a promotion and comes with "Ear Buds" which we will almost certainly not use.
In best MSE thinking - would appreciate any feedback on the following.
If we wait until the Ear Buds promotion has ended - do Samsung have any history of then dropping prices?

You could buy the phone complete with ear buds and sell them as a sealed / unused item on eBay or monitor deals on the Hotukdeals website to see if there are offers available that have been found elsewhere.

Which particular model were you looking at?
ps - this may be better suited to being posted in the Mobile Phones section1 -
Hi Neil thank you for your advice.
(I hadn't noticed that there is a dedicated Mobile Phone section)
I'll copy my post to that section.
I'll also keep an eye open on that website thanks.
I've never sold anything on eBay so would need to investigate further.
If I understand correctly the buds offer ends at month end and then needs to be claimed.
I was looking at A52S 5G.

I bought a Samsung A8 in late 2018 via the Samsung website.
The A8 was launched early 2018 so was over 6-8 months old aprox ? at the point of my purchase and the newer models were about to be launched etc.
The Samsung deal was they took my old iphone 4s as a trade in so instead of a A8 at £300? it was £199 with the iphone trade in .
Dont know if they still do these trade in deals before new models are launched but it worked for myself at the time .
Phones are cheaper now so it could have all changed but might be worth a look online or a email

Just to say you probably won't get much for buds on eBay - everyone is doing exactly what you are doing ie buying the phone and selling the buds.0

I know this thread is a few days old but on the Samsung web site the A53 5G is currently cheaper than the A52s 5G.
I think the A53 is the new version so I would imagine its got better specs - apart from the lack of a headphone port
You mentioned maximising the period for software updates - newer A53 will get the latest Android and updates for longer.
PS - I have an A50 bought in April 2019 and im still getting Samsung security updates on that0 -
